From a grower's perspective, it is a large and healthy garlic to grow and appears to be relatively resistant to most of the diseases that can affect garlic. It was grown in Romania for centuries.
Grows well in most states even some years in Warm Winter Areas, but will be marginal there in years with early hot summers.
Harvests in early-mid summer - a rich flavored, very hot strong garlic that stores into spring at cool room temp.
4 to 6 cloves per bulb. 25 to 30 cloves per pound. Late harvest. Stores 6 months. Zones 1 to 7. Produces scapes. Hot.
Garlic used for seed is generally 2" or greater, while garlic that is less than 2" is sold as table garlic. You can plant or eat garlic of any size.
