German Red- A rich, musky Rocambole hardneck Garlic. Rocambles are prized for having the best, spiciest garlic flavor, and German Red is no exception! Its flavor is very strong, hot and spicy and sticks around for a long time. It seems to have an especially rich taste.
It is also one of the easiest Rocambles to grow, and is well adapted to the Northern climate. It is a generally a vigorous grower with large foliage that is dark green and results in a pretty good sized bulb. It has thin bulb wrappers that have a lot of purple and brown in them. Medium-sized cloves, 8–9 per head.Garlic used for seed is generally 2" or greater, while table garlic can be any size.
